Please understand that the Machine Rental is Self Driven, meaning it is unsupervised, whilst there will be someone present to help, once you have attended the tuition, the nature of the rental means the machine is yours for that time.... changing thread, needles, pantographs etc, is down to you, like having the machine at home.


Please also be aware that the minimum 3 hours may not be long enough to finish your quilt, depending on its size. 









We recognise that there are quilters out there who want to complete their own quilt using a long arm quilting machine but don't have their own machine. After completing an hour’s tuition to learn all the basics of how to operate the machine and load your quilt, you are then certified to rent the Long Arm and start quilting your own quilts.

Harmony Quilt Company has a state-of-the-art Handi Quilter Simply Sixteen, a 16” throat space, hand guided long arm quilting machine with a stitch regulator, on a 10ft Studio Frame available for rental.

Needles – Are included with your rental.

Thread- To ensure proper operation of our machine, we require the use of Glide brand cone thread. We carry cones of Glide Thread, in a variety of colours and can order any colour not on hand.  NO OTHER THREAD WILL BE PERMITTED TO BE USED ON THE MACHINE.

Bobbins – Only M Class Bobbins slotted for Handi Quilter Machines are used and are available for use within your rental period. There is a bobbin winder to wind bobbins for your rental time.

Wadding – You may purchase wadding from us or bring your own. We carry 80/20, 90” and 120” wide, Warm 100 - 100% cotton 120” wide, bleached, and un-bleached, Soft & Bright, 90” wide.

Backing Fabric – You may purchase backing fabric from us or bring your own. We carry 44” fabrics and will need to be joined for bigger quilts. BACKING FABRICS NEED TO BE 4” BIGGER THAN YOUR QUILT TOP ON ALL FOUR SIDES.

Rental fees – The minimum rental session time is 3 hours at £45.00 per session. You can also schedule two rental sessions together if you feel you need the whole day.

You can pre-book your rental time to be sure you get the time that you need to finish your quilt. If another quilter has not already booked time on the machine and you need more time to finish your quilt, you can add additional hours to your rental time to complete your quilting at £15 per hour. If another quilter has already pre- booked their rental time and you are not complete. You will need to unload your quilt and schedule additional rental time to complete your quilt.

Estimating your rental time – This solely depends on the size of your quilt, how densely you quilt and how comfortable you are with the machine and quilting experience.
